The North American Plate is sliding underneath the Caribbean Plate to create volcanic islands. This is called a subduction zone. Each of the volcanoes lie on a plate boundry which make it easyier for the plates to subduct underneath one another.

2. What is the major industry of the West Indies? Tourism and farming are the most important economic activities in the west indies. Wealthy landowners grow crops such as sugarcane, bananas, coffee, and tobacco. Another big industry of the West Indies is the Mining, manufacturing and trade. Manufcturing and trade are very important because most of the money that the Caribbean makes comes from making Oil and Natural Gas. In 2001 the Natural Gas in Cuba rose along with the Oil Production in 2002 in the Caribbean.

5. Government- How is cuba different from every other country in the western Hemisphere~ Cuba has survived the breakup of the Soviet Communism. And is the only Full Blown communist country left in the Western Hemisphere. And...It is now open for tourism!!!! Barack Obama has just recently gone there!
