This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too. You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer. And write out your source for that correct answer. And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to. Can you eliminate any of the answers? How? And how did you search for the correct answer? Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers?
Write it out! Be complete. A good paragraph per answer is what we are after here…

1. What are the three places that make up the points of the Bermuda Triangle?
http://blog.dictionary.com/bermuda-triangle/
For my search engine I am going to use Web Crawler. For my Key words which I’m going to use to search for the answer is three places Web Crawler. For my Key words which I’m going to use to search for the answer is three places Bermuda triangle. Throughout searching I came up with one link giving me the answer. Number A.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pernambuco
I’m going to use Bing because it is the second most used search engine. I am going to use Pernambuco and Capital as my search terms. It is in Brazil. When I searched it up it came up before I even finished typing. I had 12,000,000 results. Out of the 12,000,000 results I picked Wikipedia. Therefore the answer is C/Brazil.
I will use another kind of search engine. This time I will try to use DuckDuckGo. The reason I am using this is because I have to for a search engine to search up this question. I’m going to use Nara Japan for my search terms. I think the answer is going to be B because It’s old but not too old. As I used my searched terms nothing popped up. After scrolling through my searches I came up with the answer on one page. Therefore the answer is B, 1,300 years old.

This time I’m going to use google chrome because I use it the most often in this school at home. I have no clue what the answer is. My search terms are going to be Northern Pacific Gyre. After scrolling through my options I came up with one link that says they have a big garbage trapped in wind currents. Because that looks exactly like number B I think the answer is number B.
We are going to do this question in a very, very, very, very, very different way. I’m going to use DuckDuckGo Web Crawler, Ixquick, and Chrome. I have no idea what the answer is. DuckDuckGo tracks searches but does not track me. Web crawler does not seem to be giving me any answers. My search terms are going to be Mosaic Angel 2010 Hagia Sophia. Google comes up with many websites and gives me an answer of Istanbul. Ixquick gives me different information about angels. Therefore I think google is right and the answer is A.

We are about to start number six. We are going to do something different. We are going to limit the search by using sight colon tricks. My search terms are Kampar River whitewater site;*.edu. One of my first links said Kampar River White Water Rafting Gopeng Perak. Therefore because of that I think the answer is B, Gopeng Malaysia.
On this one I’m going to use DuckDuckGo again but instead of EDU I’m going to use ORG for my seach. My search terms are going to be England Devonshire;*.org. As I search it nothing is coming up so I’m going to click on Wikipedia and see what it says. Wikipedia didn’t seem to give me anything so I’m going to click on something else. Looking for quite a while to see all my options I finally found one saying that you could find it in southwest of England. Therefore the answer is B.
I have no Idea what the answer is. This time I’m going to use EDU because that worked very well on number six. My search terms are going to be The Adirondacks;*.EDU. My browser is going to be Google. Using my search terms I clicked it seeing that it said New York STATE Adirondack region. After clicking on my link I didn’t even need to read. There was a big picture with mountains ranges that said in New York. Therefore the answer is B, Mountain range in New York State.
I have no idea what this answer is but I do have quite a good guess from the Columbus project that is will be A. My search terms are going to be Caribbean formal name;*.com because I have not used .com yet and I would like to try it to see what it gives me for an answer. My search engine is going to be Bing. It didn’t come up with anything on my search so I’m going to add Indies at the end. Looking through on my links on my 4th link I come up with the answer of the West Indies as I predicted. Therefore the answer is A.
For this one I have no guesses of what it could be and I have just no idea. Therefore I will do a .com search again just to give me a lot of searches so that way I don’t limit the search and it gives me plenty of options.
