This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too. You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer. And write out your source for that correct answer. And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to. Can you eliminate any of the answers? How? And how did you search for the correct answer? Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers?
Write it out! Be complete. A good paragraph per answer is what we are after here…

1. What are the three places that make up the points of the Bermuda Triangle?
I am going to use google for my search engine, because it is the one that I usually use. Also it opens up right as I open up a search engine. I am going to use the key words Bermuda, Triangle, points, of, the, and locate. Then I found 732,000 results then I scrolled through the first few snippets, until I found a website that I wanted to read. This website was http://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/bermudatri.html and I found a map with the correct answer. Bermuda, Miami, and Puerto Rico. The Bermuda Triangle sends many things malfunctioning every year this is where it is located and what it is. This is how I found the answer.

Above is a picture of the Bermuda Triangle here is the link for the page http://i1.wp.com/bitcast-a-sm.bitgravity.com/slashfilm/wp/wp-content/images/bermuda-triangle-700.jpg?resize=700%2C300
I knew the right answer of this question, but this is how I found it. For this question I used www.dogpile.com because I thought this would be a good site for this question. Then I used the keywords ‘Pernambuco’ ‘capital’ and ‘of what country’. Then there were many results, but do not know the exact number because dogpile did not have them. After I had looked through a few of the snippets I found the site http://www.britannica.com/place/Pernambuco which tells me that Brazil is the correct answer for this problem.
I am going to use the search engine www.bing.com because I have not used this one yet. Also it is the second most popular search engine. But first I am going to guess and I think that it is b. because the number seems like a decant number. I am going to search for the keywords, or search terms ‘Nara’ ‘Japan’ ‘age’. When I searched these keywords 85,500,000 results came up, after scrolling down I decided that I was going to click on the website https://www.boundless.com/art-history/textbooks/boundless-art-history-textbook/japan-before-1333-ce-15/the-nara-period-105/art-of-the-nara-period-478-6629/ Then after I read this page I figured out that the answer is b. 1,300. Like I guessed.

Above is a picture of the city Nara in Japan and here is the link http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JV8zuD5yWmU/TOiDtgS5aEI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/-ka3ZqzFZUA/s1600/Nara.jpg
For number 5 we are going to do this one very, very, very, very, very, differently we are going to use four different search engines, than compare them. I am using ixquick, duckduckgo, yahoo, and google. I chose these ones because I thought that they would be the best for this question. For all the sites I used the keywords ‘hagia’ ‘Sofia’ ‘location’. After I searched these in all four search engines I found out that all of them the first result that popped up was Wikipedia, except for yahoo. The first one that came up for yahoo was a location site. Then I looked through all the search engines I found out that ixquick gave me hotels, and most of the answers in Bing were hotels to. But in yahoo I clicked on the website http://famouswonders.com/hagia-sophia-in-istanbul/ and I found out that Hagia Sofia is in a. Istanbul, Turkey. It’s a museum that previously was a Byzantine Christian Church and a mosque. This was the answer for this question.

Above is a picture of the angel found in Hagia Sofia it was covered in a layer of plaster and a metal mask.
Here is the link for the page where I found the picture. http://medievalnews.blogspot.com/2009/07/mosiac-uncovered-in-hagia-sophia.html I found this by searching for the keywords ‘Hagia’ ‘Sofia’ ‘Angel’ and this is a image that I liked the most.
The search engine that we are going to use is google. We are going to use a advanced search, but not use the gear; and limit the domain results. I am going to use the key words ‘Kampar’ ‘River’ ‘site:*.edu’ I am using the colon because that is how you limit the search to the domain you want. For my case I just want .edu websites. When I searched this 1,480 results came up I scrolled through a few and I found nothing really, I only found results that did not answer the question that was being asked. So I added the keyword ‘Malaysia’ because I used my brain and decided that it is not in West Virginia, or South Africa so I searched for Malaysia. When I searched this I got 1,110 results this time when I scrolled down I found the website http://www1.american.edu/ted/tin.htm This was the only website that actually told we that to go river rafting on the Kampar River you would have to go to b. Gopeng, Malaysia.
For this question I am going to use the search engine ixquick because that would be a great search engine for this question. For this question I am going to use the keywords ‘Devonshire’ ‘England’ ‘Location’ because those keywords are the keywords. When I searched this there came a bunch of shopping websites popped up; so I am going to use the limit domain search with site:*.com, and then see what pops up. A few websites popped up and that domain search did not work for ix quick so I am going to delete the asterix and see what happens there. When I searched again but without the asterix I found out that Devonshire, England is Located in Southwest England. I actually found this on a website which was https://www.evi.com/q/where_is_devonshire_park%2C_england_located this website said it is on the west park in Liverpool which is b. Southwest England.

Here is a picture of Devonshire, England from the website https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Devonshire_Dome_2.jpg
I am going to use Bing for this question because there are some lovely pictures in the background. I am going to use the keywords ‘Where are the Adirondacks.’ For the first question to figure that up first. When I searched these words 10,600,000 results popped up. I scrolled through and the best website I found was at the top actually this websites name was http://visitadirondacks.com/. This website said that the Adirondacks are in New York USA. Now I will search for the second part, because I have already found out the first answer. I searched for the keywords ‘What are the Adirondacks’ on Bing again. There were 10,600,000 results again like the last question I clicked on the same website as before and I found out that the Adirondacks are a mountain range. These answers told me that the overall answer is b. A Mountain range in New York State.

Here is a picture of the Adirondack Mountains from the website

I am going to use google for the next question because in my opinion it is the browser that has the most results. I do not know the answer for this question but I think it is a. The West Indies. For the keywords I am going to write ‘What’ ‘is’ ‘the’ ‘formal’ ‘name’ ‘for’ ‘the’ ‘Caribbean’ ‘region.’ When I searched these key words I found 34,900,000 results. But none of the websites are what I wanted. So I change some of the keywords and put in ‘The West Indies’ there were a lot of results but I found Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Indies and it said that the answer us a. The West Indies.

Here is a picture of the Caribbean from the website https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caribbean_Sea
I am using google for question number ten because there is a 1 and a 0 in google and in 10. I have no clue what the answer for this question is going to be. So I will search the keywords ‘Where do most tourists leave from to go to the Galapagos Islands’ I found the website http://www.travelchannel.com/destinations/south-and-central-america/articles/the-galapagos-islands-guide-what-you-should-know and I found out that most tourists come from a. Quinto, Ecuador. I found this answer because of the great information on the great website.

I found this picture of Quinto Ecuador on the website https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Quito,_Ecuador_72.jpg
I am going to use Bing for this question
