Volcanos mostly formed the West Indies, by an underwater chain of mountains, but some islands like cuba are limestone that has been pushed up by the ocean floor or the earth's crust. That is why there is so much sand. For instance there is an active volcano in the West Indies called Mountserrat. It is still erupting to this day!
Pg 215: What is the major industry in the West Indies? The main industry in the West Indies is toursim, because of the amount of people who come to the West Indies. In some islands farming is industrius. There are many different places you can visit in the West Indies for instance the Caribbean Islands are a great place to relax.

History~ Name four groups who have influenced the culture of the Caribbean region. The Spaniards, the French, the English, and the Dutch. These groups had a huge part on the Caribbean because each one had a certain way that they wanted to run things.( The Taino native Americans, who lived there first had a huge roll.) How is Cuba different from every other country in the Western Hemisphere? Well, Cuba is still a communist country. While all the other countries in the West Indies are not. Also Cuba is one of the only countries in the world to still be.Here is a link that tells more on the Government in Cuba.
