1. What formed the islands of the West Indies? The West Indies were formed by volcanic eruptions within the surrounding area. So of the islands have also surfaced because of the pressure of the earths crust. Another group are continental islands, such as Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Jamacia which if you are going by the dictionary means that these islands are part of the earths crust and not made by volcanic eruptions and other distribances.
2. What is the major industry in the West Indies? The major industry in the West Indies is tourism. Tourism in the West Indies includes resorts, and the oterh popular attractions located around the islands. People are drawn here for the awe inspiring forests that cover the untouched islands and the gorgeous waters, crystal clear and stretching for miles.

1. What three archipelagos make up the West Indies?
The three archipelagos that make up the West Indies are the Bahamas, the Greater Antilles and the Lesser Antilles. The world archipelagos means, a group of islands. Each group consists of different types of islands specific to the area. The Greater Antilles are made up of continental islands where as the Bahamas are made up of coral and sand islands. And lastly, the Lesser Antilles are made up of both the types of islands and volcanic islands.
2. Name four groups that influenced the Caribbean Region?
The Spanish, French, African and Asian groups all influenced the Caribbean area. These groups brought many different types of culture varying the culture within the West Indies and giving them their own unique culutral atmosphere. Like most places, the Caribbeans culture starts with geography, history and of course the political systems. Over time this area of the world has shaped its cuisine, traditions and customs by the ever growing migration to this area.
3. How is Cuba different from every other country in the Western Hemisphere?
Cuba is different from the others because it has the only government in the Western Hemisphere that is based off of the ideas of communism. The word communism has a definiotion of a certain social, political and economic group whose main goal is to establish a communist sytem, or a socieoeconomic order based off of the abscence of social class, money and the state.
