What formed the islands of the West Indies?

Underwater volcanoes formed the West Indies. Others are continental islands which means they were created when continental plates moved enough to puch us rock. These islands are made up of limestone. Around thse islands, there are also many different types of wildlife, like corals, that don't live anywhere else. This is because everywhere else is too polluted and the wildlife had died off.

What is the major industry of the West Indies?

Tourism is the major industry of the West Indies. Others larger industries include different crops. More wealthy landowners grow thing like sugarcan, bananas, coffee, and tabacco to be exported. There are many workers on these larger crops that are more commercial. Still, tourism is the largest industry because of all the wildlife that's living in the area. There's scuba diving, beautiful clean beaches, and there's one place where you can release baby tutrles.

2. Region- What three archipelagos make up the West Indies?

The Bahamas, the Greater Antilles, and the Lesser Antilles make up the West Indies. Different types of landforms make up the region on each island. Each of the archipelagos look, for the most part, the same; so if you were to travel form each island, you'd think that they were the same thing. If you go from different types of islands then it wpuln't look the same. They're also all similar but different shapes.

3. History- Name four groups who have influenced the culture of the Caribbean region.

The French, Dutch, Spaniards, and English influenced the culture in the Caribbean region. The fact that the English ended up setlling in the west Indies was a big accident, courtesy of Columbus, and eventually other Europeans began to come and settled in the area.

4. How is Cuba different from every other country in the Western Hemisphere?

Cuba is the only full blown communist country in the entire Western Hemisphere. In 1976, a prime minister, Fidel Castro, became the president of Cuba. He was a dictator and was responsible for many mihaps that have happened in Cuba's past, for example, many communist revolutions around the world.
