On the first day of our trip to Cardigan Mountain, our group went out into the woods and conducted a stream study. It was raining, (so we had to put on our raincoats and rainpants) and the stream was very full and running very quickly. We did a few different studies to test how tall the stream was, how fast it was flowing, and other things. To test how fast the stream was flowing we put in an orange in the stream, let in flow in the river for about 30 feet, timed it, and figured out how fast the stream was flowing. We also had put a ruler in the stream at three different points and averaged out the depth of the stream. Later in the day, we went on a short hike and played a game that involved recognizing a specific tree. After interacting with those trees and the river though, we were all soaked with rain, but overall, it was a good day.
