Title: Concord Monitor Quiz Searching Project
Sub-title- A Project About “Searching” for the Correct Information.

This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too. You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer. And write out your source for that correct answer. And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to. Can you eliminate any of the answers? How? And how did you search for the correct answer? Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers?
Write it out! Be complete. A good paragraph per answer is what we are after here…

1. What are the three places that make up the points of the Bermuda Triangle?
I am going to use the Google Search Engine. I am going to use this, because I have always use it. I do not know what the answer is and that is why I am going to search it to find the correct answer. I used the search term Bermuda and triangle and location. Several websites were listed…snippets… I selected the noaa.gov website to read…I clicked it, and found a map on the page. Which gave me the correct answer

I am going to use the search engine Bing because I always think of a different browser to use. I think the answer is C. Brazil because there is a wood called Pernambuco that is in Brazil. When I searched it I used these words Recife, Capital, Pernambuco, State, and Country. As soon as I started typing Pernambuco a lot of stuff came up. When I got to a page there were about 2 million 500 thousand snippets and most of them were Wikipedia but I chose a All About Brazil site. I was correct.

I am going to use Dogpile.com because I haven’t heard of it and want to try it out. I am going to guess B.) 1,300 because Japan has been around for a long time. Nara, Japan, Anniversary in 2010. As I typed, a lot of things came up and what I wanted to search came up to. There were a lot of Wikipedia snippets came up and that is what I used. I looked over that snippet that came up and I was interested in and I guessed it right

I am going to use DuckDuckGo.com because that is what my teacher recommended. I think the answer is C.) An underground sea mountain 7 miles tall because that is the most reliable answer that I thought of when I look at the question. I searched these word North Pacific, Pacific Ocean, Japan, and West coast. I searched these words and the answer is B.) A giant debris field of garbage trapped in a spinning circle. For question five we are going to
compare four different search engines. I am going to use Google, Bing, Dogpile,
and DuckDuckGo. I think the
answer is B.) Luxembourg. It’s a
cathedral built to honor St. Sophia, the country’s patron saint. I am
going to use these words Mosaic, Angel, Hagia Sophia. When I searched in google
not a lot of things came up but when I searched in Bing a lot of things came
while I was typing a word. A lot of the snippets were almost the same. I
searched in dogpile and nothing came up until I pressed enter and only a few
things came up. Then I finally used DuckDuckGo a few things came up as I typed
but nothing useful. I stuck with Bing and this is what I found. The answer is A.) Istanbul, Turkey.

I am going to use Google. We are
going to use an advance search. We are going to try limiting our domains. We
are only going to look for. .org .edu .net .com and
.gov. I think the answer is A. Wheeling,
West Virginia because west Virginia has a lot of beautiful rivers.. As I searched
Kampar River in google it jumped up to the top of the page. I have found out a
new trick how to only have .edu sites ect. I have used these words to
find the answer, Kampar and River. When I searched it on Google I found that
when I was typing that not a lot of snippets came up. The answer is B. Gopeng,

I am going Bing because I rely on it. The words I am going to use are England and Devonshire. I think it is A. In dairy country east of London because It is in England. As I searched England and Devonshire a lot of things came up. I have used Bing for a long time and I think of these sites are reliable to use. The answer is A. Just what I thought. I really should know because I take French.

I don’t know why I chose this answer I just chose one of them. I am going to
use this word to find the answer, I am going to use Adirondacks. When I
searched this a lot of things came up. The answer is B. I

I am going to use Bing again because I love to use this because it comes up with a lot of snippets. I think the answer is A. I was looking at the snippets and there was a lot and when I was typing a lot of things came up.
