This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too. You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer. And write out your source for that correct answer. And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to. Can you eliminate any of the answers? How? And how did you search for the correct answer? Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers?
Write it out! Be complete. A good paragraph per answer is what we are after here…

I scrolled through the snippets, and clicked on this one; http://scribol.com/environment/waste-and-recycling/the-north-pacific-gyre-100-million-tons-of-garbage-and-growing. I learned the Gyre is a giant cluster on trash collected together in the ocean that spins clockwise. The correct answer is b; A giant debris field of garbage trapped in a spinning circle.

The search engine I am going to use the source WebCrawler, Bing, DuckDuckGo, AND google. We are going to compare the different results that we get. Mr Woolner says we are going to do this one very, very, very, very differently. The search terms I am going to use are Hagia, Sophia, and location. I am going to guess that the answer is a. Bing and Google gave me the answer without clicking on any links. DuckDuckGo and WebCrawler gave me a bunch of links. WebCrawler gave me mostly hotel and travel websites. All of the sources said that the correct answer is a; Istanbul, Turkey. It’s a museum that previously was a Byzantine Christian Church and a mosque. They all gave me the same link to the same sight; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hagia_Sophia.

I am going to guess that the answer is a; Wheeling, West Virginia. The search engine I am going to use is Bing. The search terms that I entered into Bing are whitewater, rafting, Kampar River, and location. The address of the river showed up at the top of the page. I clicked on this link, because it said the answer in the name. http://www.river-explorer.com/. The correct answer is b; Gopeng, Malaysia.

I am going to guess that the answer is c; Near the Scottish border. I am going to use the search engine Google, because I find it as the easiest search engine to use.
