Red Group. Day 2 Block 3
Mount Cardigan is a very interesting mountain. Mount Cardigan has a elevation of 3,156 feet. The peak of the mountain is made of smooth rock. I believe this is because of the strong winds creating erosion on the top rocks. On top of the mountain, there is a small pool made in the rocks. I think the wind erodes the rock into the pool shape, then the rain fills the small pool. On the mountain, you can see almost three whole towns from the peak. On the side of the mountain, there is a ledge, the ledge gives you a taste of what the peak view looks like.
When you pull into the parking lot, you will see the AMC lodge. The AMC lodge is where everyone sleeps, eats, and hangs out. To the side of the lodge, there is a small field. At the end of the field there is a fire pit where we had a campfire. Along the trail, there were campsites and we even found some tree tags. On the top of the mountain, there is a fire tower. You are allowed to go up the fire tower but not in the room at the top. Near the edge of the peak there is a medallion in the stone. That is what cardigan mountain looks like.
Half of our grade went on the trip at a time. Session one was the group that i was in, we stayed for three days. We were there for September 27 (Sunday), Monday , and Tuesday .
