From the text in my Geography textbook, the most major industry in the West Indies is Tourism. So many tourists visit the West Indies that the islands can survive on the income of it. They're many different ways that islands commercialize their tourism.
The three archipelagos that make up the West Indies are: the Bahamas, the Greater Antilles, and the Lesser Antilles, according to my textbook. If you didn't know what archipelagos are, they're groups of islands.
According to the textbook, the groups that have influenced culture in the Caribbean region are the Spaniards, the English, the French, and the Dutch.
My textbook stated that Cuba is a communist state led by a dictator named President Fidel Castro.
