The Day Begins ...

I woke up in the morning at the usual time and smell of hot cocoa, but there was only two people awake so far. Quietly, I climbed down from my bunk and grabbed my clothes so that I could get dressed. When I was finished getting dressed I got down stairs there were people waiting at the hot chocolate station.

My friend Nate came up to me and said-The chief wont let us have the hot chocolate yet.

Oh,- I replied so I stood next to him, Alex, and Preston.

About ten minutes later (since the time I got into the line for hot chocolate) we finally got to get our hot drinks. After everybody got their hot chocolate I played cards with the usual crew-Kyle, Teagan, Alex, Preston, Nate, Meagan, Shelby, and I-went to play the usual game of BS. We played it for about a half an hour and then it was breakfast time. Today's breakfast was french toast. It was good but it wasnt as good as the french toast my parents make.

When I finally look up it was almost the end of breakfast. After Hope and Becca collected all the ORT that we had made for that meal. We sang the song as usual and our total was about .37 pounds. And every time we sang the ORT Report song Michael would always add shakey shakey shakey even though he wasnt supposed to. Like yesterday morning, the counselors called up one group at a time to make their lunches. And as soon as everybody finished making their lunches we raced up to our bunks to pack their bags to bring it down to the mud room so some people could pack it.

My group got ready to do our pond study at the pond near the AMC lodge. We had a giant net, some tiny ones and so ice cube trays. I had nothing right now because everybody else got the equipment before me. So I just looked around so that we could find more animals (hopefully). First, someone caught a salamander and we named it Sammy. Soon, someone else caught a tiny salamander so we named that one Little Dude.

Later Maegan found a snail that she named Adam (as you can see we like to name things we find). Soon we found another salamander that was a little bigger than Sammy so we named it Sally. Then after a few more minutes it started to rain. After a while when we had found a few more animals in the pond, we started to name the animals. For example, we had Adam the snail, Sammy, Sally and Little Dude the salamanders, and Brad the dragonfly larva. And after we identified the animals we said if the pond was healthy some-what healthy or not healthy and we took the water temperature.

When all the stuff for the stream study was done we went to go inside and eat our lunch because it was raining. While we ate, Tabby read us The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. All of the Hooligans all listened as she read. When Tabby had finished the story all of us were mostly done with our lunches. We all had a big sandwich, two sugar cookies, and a granola bar or two. The Hiking Hooligans went back outside and started on a half a mile nature hike. We all talked and played on the way. There was some up hills, down hills, and straight out flats on the hike. We stopped when we were about half way done to do our second plot study and started on our way again when we finished.

Once again we stopped to play one last game before we got back to the AMC Lodge. Soon we started to the lodge and stopped a couple yards from the head of the trail to go to the bathroom. The group met up on the field and did magnetic toes one last time and talked a little bit about what we did today. After, we walked to the bus and we were the first group there. So, we boarded the bus and got ready to go back to the high school. And soon we left.

Human Envionment Interaction:

On day three at Cardigan Mountain we saw some human enviornment interation. For example, the pond at the AMC Lodge was human made. A work crew propbably dug a little hole for the pond, put some water int it and imported some fish and some of the animals that live there today. Also, it was probably the same with the nature pathes that we hiked on.People worked on cutting down some trees.
