The Day Begins ...

On the first day we arrived on the bus that had 34 kids from our grade. We unloaded the bus and went onto the field next to the lodge. Soon, we met our leaders, Becca, Robin, and Hope. I was in Hopes group with about eleven of us in the group including me. But before we found out who our instructor was, we played some field games with all of the kids in the first sesion.

Then after the games we found out who our leader was. Mine was Hope. Right after we ate our lunch. I had several of my friends in my group. For example, Ana, Maddy and Caroline. We went on this nature hike and did a lot of fun things. Our first stop was at this little open area close to the head of the trail. That is where we made our contract. We also made up our group name: The T-Reckers. Then we played a quick name game.

We hiked for a while longer until we just barely got passed a bridge. Hope split the group into pairs of two so we could do this activity. My partner was Ana. After we were paired up we listened to Hope explain the directions of the activity. The activity was where one partner was blindfolded and the other would pick this tree that they wanted to lead us to. I was first and my tree had a little handle on one side of it and when i raped my fingers around it was about the size of my middle fingers and thumbs wrapped around it. Then it was Anas turn to be blindfolded.

I picked a tree near the spot where the T-Reckers had gathered for the instructions. When we had both found our trees we went out to sketch them - which didnt take very long. Then we both sat in the dry stream bed and started to move rocks. Ana found a red back salamander. It was really cool.

Soon, we started to hike again. We stopped at another bridge that had a slow running stream. But on the way there we found some Indian Cucumber plants that we ate the roots of. We stopped there for about an hour and did some sketches, we caught some wildlife in the stream, and did a stream study. There was a lot of wildlife in the stream. For example, frogs, water bugs, and tiny fish. We also did this speed of the running water activity there where we dropped and orange into the stream and pushed it if it got stuck on a rock. We also timed it when it went the 50 feet. It took about 5 and a half minutes to get the 50 feet.

After the stream studies we hiked back to the AMC Cardigan Lodge. There we had a hour me time where we could hang out, play cards, read and all those types of things. I hung out in my bunk room with Alex, Teagan, Lauren G, Emma, and Caroline. All of us were in there setting up our beds and talking. We played Green Glass Door and Black Magic. Caroline and I had to go down a few minutes earlier because our group could set up for dinner.

We went into the kitchen and got plates, forks, knives, napkins, the main meal, and side dishes. That night we had pasta and meatballs with a salad and garlic bread. And for dessert we had some chocolate and vanilla marble cake. After dinner we went outside and watched the moon change slowly. The of course before the lunar eclipse was done we had to go inside. That is when Mr. Woolner read us stories. Soon, when the stories were done we got to get to see the lunar eclipse one last time. Nobody got to see the moon when it was fully developed.

Everybody went to their floor (girls on third, boys on fourth). Mrs. Carens came around to the rooms with swedish fish and mint peppermint patties. I choose swedish fish. Our bunk talked quietly for a few minutes and fell asleep.

Movment Paragraph:

There was a lot of movement through out the day. For example, there was a lot of people moving on the nature trails and on the playing field with the fire place on the far side of it. Also, there was movement inside the lodge when people were playing cards and then there were the cooks that were cooking our meals.
