This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too. You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer. And write out your source for that correct answer. And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to. Can you eliminate any of the answers? How? And how did you search for the correct answer? Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers?
Write it out! Be complete. A good paragraph per answer is what we are after here…

1. What are the three places that make up the points of the Bermuda Triangle?
a. Bahamas, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico
b. Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and Tortola
c.
Miami, Bermuda, Puerto Rico
I am going to use the google search engine. I am going to use this, because I am being told to and it has good answers to search for and they are accurate. I think the answer is Bahamas Bermuda and Puerto Rico but I am not certain but I think Steven is right. But now I know he was wrong when I searched it into google. Several websites were listed which are called snippets I clicked on World Atlas which gave me the correct answer. The correct answer was c.
Here are my search terms
bermuda triangle location
http://www.worldatlas.com/aatlas/infopage/bermudat.htm
a. Italy
b. Spain
c.
Brazil
I am going to use Dogpile because it is accurate and it gave me the correct answer.
Here is the link of the website. Without dog pile I would have no idea what the answer was. The thing about this project is you can only add key words into the search box but no copying the answer from the question above. I know of a wood called pernumbuco and I know it is Tropical so I think Brazil is the answer. I am going to use the search term Pernumbuco and country When I typed Pernambuco country6 I observed that the answer came up when I typed in what I said earlier. Here is my link for my answer: http://www.brazil.org.za/pernambuco.html. I scrolled through the first page of snipets (2,500) most answers were wiki and a .com website about pernamboco the correct answer was c I was right
a. 570 years (in 2010)
b. 1,300 years (in 2010)
c. 4,000 years (in 2010)
I am going to use the search engine Bing because If mr.woolner used it and got the correct answer I will follow in trust of the search engine. I am going to use this one because I trust my gut that the answer I will put in the search bar will be accurate. I am guessing the answer is c becuae Japan is an old country and the United States is not too old. Also because all of the answers so far have been c. As I typed I notice that answers were not coming up for bing and also we used the search terms nara japan history.I also noticed that I did not have a number of results. I keep getting the same results over and over on bing but I saw no answer in any of the snippets. The answer must be 1,300 years in 2010. Ps this link is not accurate because I didn’t find a real answer on bing now I know that bing is a stupid website that is not accurate with answers so I will never use it again. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nara,_Nara. The correct answer is b.
a. A huge pod of an estimated 2,000 endangered gray whales
b.
A giant debris field of garbage trapped in a spinning circle
c. An underground sea mountain 7 miles tall
I am going to use Duck Duck go because I think the answer will be accurate. And Mr woolner is making us do this project. And also it is because I haven’t used it yet and I think it will be better than bing. I don’t know what the answer is until I search it on Duck Duck Go. My search terms are going to be northern pacific gyre, United states, pacific ocean. I notice that the browser doesn’t track you so they cant track what you have specifically searched in thay browser, it is almost as if they stalk you. Here is the link to where I found the answer. I think the answer is be because Preston said so and I would not know that answer without him or without the browser I used. The correct answer is b. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Pacific_Gyre
a.
Istanbul, Turkey. It’s a museum
that previously was a Byzantine Christian Church and a mosque.
b. Luxembourg. It’s a
cathedral built to honor St. Sophia, the country’s patron saint.
c. Mexico City. It’s a traditional market where the image of the angel is said to have healing powers.
For question 5 we are going to compare 4 search engines. Google ,Dogpile ,duckduck go ,and last but not least Yahoo, IO am doing this because Mr. woolner said to. I will use the following search terms,Hagia Sophia I noticed when I used dogpile a lot of results came up, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hagia_Sophia, for Google the results came up so fast, I noticed that the snippets for duck duck go was similar to dogpile, for yahoo the results, the results were that the pictures came up on the bottom and the links were om the top.I am thinking that the answer may not be accurate because I felt like they are only have wiki on their website and at the bottom of the patge there are a lot of tours and stuff.. And they don’t search you and they cant see what you have searched in that website they are basicly stalkers in a way. WE are doing these because we were told to and the project is fun and is is good to learn geography. But I think it is sory of annoying because we have to put the links in the project in order to get a good grade on the quiz (cmq). Also I am thinking that some of the information is not accurate because some people just put the links and pictures on google and yahoo to get money not so people; can find the answer to their questions. The correct answer is a.
a.
Wheeling, West Virginia.
b. Gopeng, Malaysia
c. Johannesburg, South Africa
I am going to use google because we are going to do an advanced search this time, we are going to try to limit the domain and only look for org. net and edu.,.Gov. Here are my search terms Kampar river. I noticed when I search Kampar river:*edu I only got wiki and other links that are not edu but luckily Mr. Woolner does not care. But I am going to try again as many times as I need. Here is the website where I found my answer, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kampar_River the correct answer is a. I tried using ,gov and that didn’t work and I tried .com and that did work because a wiki came up and then I found the answer.
a. In dairy country east of London
b.
Southwest England
c. Near the Scottish border
I am going to use google because I trust it and I have noticed great links and info so far on google. Here are my search terms, location of Devenshire England I got a website that is wiki but it is accurate buit many people think that wiki is not accurate and it is not reliable. I noticed when I searched for the second time I got a lot of great links and great maps for Devonshire but that really helped me because I was getting frustrated when I didn’t find anything. Here is my link to my answer on the wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devon. Thw correct answer is b.
a. The Amish region in Indiana where craftsmen make chairs
b.
Mountain range in New York state
c. American Indian reservations in the Florida Everglades
I will use google because I trust it and I think that I will get an accurate answer for what I am searching for. Here are some search terms I used to find the answer I was looking for and now here is the link where I found the answer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adirondack_Park. I am thinking that the correct answer is b because it wouldn’t be called the Adirondack mountains if it wasn’t a mountain range in upper state New York. And also I go there every summer top go to a lake called Upper saint Regis and I know where the Adirondack mountains are because of my so many trips over the years and I can see that Adirondack mountains form the Lake Champlain ferry whenever I go to New York during the summer.
a.
The West Indies
b. The East Indies
c. The South Indies
I am going to use the search engine web crawler because it is the only one I have not used and because I was told to do this project and I think it is fun and better than arcgis.com where we make maps. My search terms will be Carribean formal name. I am thinking it might work and here is the link where I found the answer for the question above. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caribbean. According to the link I am thinking that the answer might be a because it part of the West Indies islands. And I am thinking that answer would make sense. So that is my evidence.
a. Quito, Ecuador
b.
Santiago, Chile
c. La Paz, Bolivia
I am going to use the search engine Web Crawler because I don’t remember any of the others and I have used them all last week for the other questions. Here will be some of my search terms. Tourists Galapagos Islands trip what city. So far I haven’t found the answer but I will in a few seconds. I think the answer is b because I would think that they would leave a country near where they are going. Here is my link to the answer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gal%C3%A1pagos_Islands.
I am going to use the search engine google because I trust it and I was told to by Mr.Woolner.
a. Great Smoky Mountain
b. Yellowstone
c. Yosemite
a. Lili’uokalani
b. Kauai
c. Lanai
