This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too.  You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer.  And write out your source for that correct answer.  And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to.  Can you eliminate any of the answers?  How?   And how did you search for the correct answer?  Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers?

Write it out!  Be complete.  A good paragraph per answer is what we are after here…

I am going to use the search engine Google. I am going to use this search engine, because I use it all the time, and it is my favorite search engine to use. I think the answer is a, I think this is the correct answer from making a complete guess. I am going to use keywords like 3, points, and Bermuda Triangle. I am going to use a different search engine this time, I think I will try using Bing. I am going to use Bing, because I use this search engine when I am not using Google. I have no idea what the correct answer is so I am going to guess Brazil. But I know that the answer is not Spain, so I will take my guess as c. I am going to use the keywords Recife, capital, and Pernambuco. Even before I finished typing, my keywords, then answers kept popping up. I was correct and found out that the answer is c. I used the website http://www.brazil.org.za/pernambuco.html to find the correct answer. The correct answer is Brazil.

    3. 4,000 years   (in 2010)

I am going to use a different search engine this time this one does not track anything. Ixquick.com is one I  am going to use, because I want to try before it goes away, because I have never used it before, and because Mr. Woolner  told us to use it. I am going to take a guess as b, because I have no idea. I don’t think the answer is c, because that is from to long ago. I will use keyword like Historic Nara, Japan 1st capital, and 2010 I noticed that using ixquick nothing pops up when I type my keywords. When I hit enter webpages came up, with answers. I found out that the answer is b. Here is the link I found with the answer http://www.thestar.com/life/travel/2010/06/25/after_1300_years_japans_first_capital_celebrates.html .

I used the website http://scribol.com/environment/waste-and-recycling/the-north-pacific-gyre-100-million-tons-of-garbage-and-growing to get my answer.
