LOCATION
Cardigan Mountain's located in western New Hampshire. The summit's latitude is N 43 degrees 38 minutes 57.9 seconds and its longitude is W 71 degrees 54 minutes 50.6 seconds. On the top of Cardigan Mountain, the elevation is 3,147 feet above sea level. The towns that are near this mountain are Orange, Canaan, Groton, Alexandria, Hebron, Dorchester, Grafton and Bristol. It is also located roughly northwest of Hopkinton and south of Dorchester.
At the Cardigan Lodge and at Cardigan Mountain, there was a lot of physical geography. There were rivers, streams, snakes/wildlife, trees, mountains and many more things. On our hike, we saw three streams. Each one had a wooden bridge across it. The streams were not flowing very fast but we also did see a river that was flowing fairly fast. The river had huge rocks in, around and under it. The streams, had some big rocks on the side of the river, but there were mostly small rocks in and around the streams.
At the Cardigan Lodge and at Cardigan Mountain, there was a lot of cultural geography. Some examples of that would be the bridges, the lodge, the trucks that were cutting down the trees, the benches and tables at the sites and the trails. The sites had about three benches and tables at each site and had a sign on a tree saying what site number it was. The wooden bridges over the streams were not very strong so we had to cross over one at a time. The bridges were each about 8 feet long.
The group of students and I were at the Cardigan Lodge for 3 days. The days were September 27(Sunday), September 28(Monday) and September 29(Tuesday), 2015.
