Cuba differs from the other countries in the western hemisphere because it is ruled by a dictator with their ideas mainly based on communism because they are a communist state.

The first reason might be that one: They would stay under american protection and the second reason would be that they would stay american citizens.

The possible dangers of selling only one crop are that depending on your location it would only be in for one season and it would be one of your only products so there wouldn't be much else to depend on if it wasn't selling.
