On Day 1 we found some indian cucumbers. This was my first indian cucumber and I thought it looked very pretty so I taped it in my book.
Day 1
I was woken up at 7:00 in the morning to get last things, eat and etc. I don't think I was up till 7:30 so I was a little rushed. I was really nervous that I would forget something so I double checked my bag, then my dad double checked my bag, and then I checked it again you get the point. Me and my dad drove there and I found my friends. It was a Sunday. When Mr. Woolner said, "everyone go to the bathroom," my friends and I ran in and all the lights were off so we could not see, we kept trying to scare each other. We came back out and got on the bus. It was an hour long drive of awful singing. After a torturous ride down we finally made it to the lodge. We were waiting to get off of the bus and see Cardigan. Some of us were getting really antsy, and others looked liked they could fall asleep. We all got of the bus ready for some fresh air.
After we were off the bus we all got in a circle to play some games. These games were not like games we play in Hopkinton. The first game, (I don't know what it was called) we took a shoe and passed it through the line it and got in a circle and ran around. Then the other group threw the shoe and we went and got it, (well they ran around each other, and we handed the shoe back going over our heads then under our legs until we reached the end.) In the end the group who had run around the circle the most times won. We played two more games like this then we meet our leader to go for a hike. Our counselor wasnt from cardigan, her name was Hope she was from New york or Pennsylvania( I dont remember.) We walked the nature loop and did stream studies. I kept stopping and looking at the outdoor classrooms wondering why we didnt have those. I also saw lots of apple trees which aren't even from new hampshire. I also saw some scotch pines which are believe it or not are from scotland. We went back to the lodge to changed into some comfier clothes for some free time. When we were walking in I saw some more apple trees ( I looked up where apple trees are from, turns out they are from Turkey). Dinner was good, my group set the table with things like salad, rolls, and spaghetti. The cook had an australian accent and was leaving to go out to Colorado after fall. The salad was amazing! They AMC lodge counselors had a little surprise called O.R.T. or leftover food. They would weigh the scraps and we made a goal to not have as much the next night ( they also did this at breakfast.) Now at my house we started to watch our scraps and sometimes bring up O.R.T. After we ate we didnt have anything else to do so we went on a night hike. It was very hilly and I remember someone talking about skiing. skiing is actually very fun, the idea came here from Norway.
I was in a group with my friend Ana ( she kept stopping and getting leaves, she took home about 30 leaves). I asked her if she wanted to hear a scary story, of course she wanted to, so I told her so I told her a story called baby beluga. She was up all night. The night hike was fun we got a marker in the dark and wrote what color it was I didnt know so I wrote down three. I was right! We went back in and Mr. Woolner told us a tale about black beard then he read us good night moon. We went outside and saw the lunar eclipse which was amazing! Then we went inside and up to bed, where Ana and Hailey went crazy. We finally feel asleep when Hailey stopped acting possessed. She was up for what felt like forever. But finally we got some sleep.
