Green group
On day two of our Cardigan trip we woke up bright and early, ready for a new day of adventure. We threw on our hiking clothes, packed up our bags, and headed down to breakfast. After a delicious meal, where we decreased our amount of ORT, we quickly ran upstairs to check that we had everything for our big hike. Then we went to join our hiking groups in our meeting spots. With our groups, we checked to make sure we had everything we were going to need, and laced up our hiking boots. Soon we were off to hike Mt. Cardigan and Mt. Firescrew, singing as we went (our hike is an example of movement of things, because we carried backpacks filled with clothing and food). We stopped frequently for water breaks, to do plot studies, eat snacks, and observe our surroundings. We shared riddles and told jokes (we brought these riddles and jokes back to Hopkinton where we shared them with our friends, another example of movement of ideas) as we trudged past four false summits, before finally reaching the top of Mt. Firescrew. From there, we had a short scramble up the rocky, bald top of Mt. Cardigan, before we summited that one as well. We stood on top of Cardigan for about ten minutes in the freezing cold, looking out across the beautiful New Hampshire landscape, as if it were meant for dolls. Finally, we began our descent(even more movement) down Cardigan, and back into tree cover. Following an old ski path, we made quick time back to the Lodge. After showering and changing our clothes, we were allowed a little more free time before a scrumptious dinner. Later we bundled up for a campfire outside, and then changed into pajamas for pirate stories in the living room. Here we witnessed Mr. Woolner falling through a table. After that we went upstairs, and into our warm bunks.
