Title: Concord Monitor Project Of Awesomeness!
Sub-title- A Project About “Searching” for the Correct Information.
First Name: A.M
Color Group: Red
This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too. You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer. And write out your source for that correct answer. And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to. Can you eliminate any of the answers? How? And how did you search for the correct answer? Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers?
Write it out! Be complete. A good paragraph per answer is what we are after here…

1. What are the three places that make up the points of the Bermuda Triangle?
For this search, I am going to use the browser internet explorer. For my keywords I used Bermuda triangle points. The link is http://geography.about.com/od/culturalgeography/a/bermudatriangle.htm . What I noticed about internet explorer is that it didn’t track your searching data. As a guess to what the answer would be, I would say C. Bahamas and Bermuda are too misplaced to make a triangle, and I don’t think Tortola is even in the area, which leaves me with C. As it turns out, I was right. The Bermuda triangle, otherwise known as the devils triangle, is in-between Miami, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico.
For this question I will be using the browser Yahoo Answers. For words I just used Recife capital. As a guess I think that it is either B or C because it sounds Spanish. When I looked it up on Yahoo it brought me to a series of links all of which mentioning Brazil to confirm, I did a quick trip to wikipidia from Yahoo at the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recife . This then confirmed that the answer was C.
For this question I used the search engine called webcrawler. For my search terms I used “North pacific Gyre between japan and USA”. Like Ixquick, it only worked when I pressed go. First thing I eliminated was A. A pod of whales would like to move around and be free, so they probably would not stay in just the north pacific. I couldn’t eliminate anything else, so I looked it up on webcrawler aand came across the answer of B on http://www.earthday.org/2014/07/07/north-pacific-trash-gyre/ .
I will use the search engine duckduckgo. My guess is that b is correct because in those times, lots of mosaics of god and stuff were built. Sadly, my guess was wrong and it was actually in Istanbul, Turkey. Duckduckgo remembers what others and I have searched for, I know this because it came up with suggested stuff. The link is https://duckduckgo.com/?q=hagia+sophia&ia=about .
I am using google as my engine because Mr. Woolner said so I think the answer is B because West Virginia is landlocked and South Africa and Africa and general doesn’t have much water, that leaves Malaysia. To prove this I went to the search engine and typed “Kampar River”. This yielded several things, many of which I didn’t really care about, so, I clicked on maps which brought up a useful google map. Using that, I was able to see that it was in malasia. The link is https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sungai+Kampar,+Indonesia/@-3.3670301,128.6155569,3z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x31d7b44cbbdfab0b:0x145f3fb0aaf5ef16
I am going to use google, on the advanced search. As a educated guess, I think that the answer is A. I think this because of one thing, that being that many things on the list have cream, which is dairy. Sadly, when I googled the answer, it came up with the answer of “Devon is a country in Southwest England.” Which is not what I thought. The link is: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF 8&safe=active&ssui=on#q=devonshire%20england&safe=active&ssui=on
I will yet again be using the advanced search for this. For key words I will type Adirondack’s location among other things. I think it is B because I have heard the word used before as in a mountain range. I looked it up using the advanced search and the first option was this link: http://visitadirondacks.com/ . As you could see, it said “Adirondacks-New York” plus a I heart NY in the upper corner. This of course led me to the answer B.
Yet again, I am using a advanced search. For key words I will type Caribbean formal name. I think that the answer is B because my class was just recently doing a project on Columbus and he called the islands he found “The West Indies.” So I looked up the answer and came across this answer on google: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q=&as_epq=&as_oq=caribbean+formal+name&as_eq=cuba&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&lr=&cr=&as_qdr=all&as_sitesearch=&as_occt=any&safe=active&as_filetype=&as_rights=#safe=strict&hl=en&as_qdr=all&q=is+the+west+indies+the+caribbean .The little box below was talking about about the Caribbean being a part of the west indies. This therefore answered my question.
For this I am yet again using advanced searching. I think that the answer is B because Chile is lining the vast majority of west Brazil which is about where the Galapagos Islands are. To confirm this I then looked it up using the key words: Galapagos leaving point. I hit enter and it came up with results. As it turns out, the more popular option is to take a plane from Quito Ecuador. Taking a boat to the islands according to the website, will take about three days, while the plane ride is almost instantaneous.
