Location and place

The location of mount Cardigan is brilliant. It is filled with streams, beautiful trees, and many historical spots like several house foundations. It rest in between Firescrew and Orange mountain and at some points is part of the appalachian trail. Its absolute location is N43 degrees 64 minutes 98 seconds , W71 degrees 91 minutes 48 seconds and is west of Alexandria along with being to the west of orange. It is also in a north north west sort of direction from Hopkinton. As I said in the last paragraph the place of mount cardigan is beautiful and you can find a variety of wildlife at the different elevations. You can find stone walls with one type of tree one one side and all and only another type on the other side. It is also a rather special place because it used to be the home of the wild cat called the lynx. The lynx is a bobcat like creature but lives in a completely different habitat. Sadly, something made the lynx move away from cardigan to Canada.

Physical geography

The physical geography of cardigan is stone at the top and lush rivers and forest near the bottom. In the winter, early spring, and late fall Cardigans summit will have snow, while in the opposite seasons, cardigan will be full of green at the top and bottom while in the winter, it's only green near the top. Cardigan mountain eventually breaks the tree line so at one point there are no trees but just a bit below, you will find many small firs and pines along with thriving colonies of soft reindeer moss. At the bottom, you will encounter a mostly flat environment with hills if you know where to look.

Cultural geography

The cultural geography of cardigan is rather nice. The people at the base of cardigan will do much to help you, and the AMC(appalachian mountain club) lodge is very roomy and nice. Then there is the idea that cardigans base used to be treeless. proof of this comes in when you look at the stone walls. As I mentioned one of the earlier paragraphs, You can find stone walls with one type of tree on one side and another type on the other side. Some more cultural geography is an old ski lift and car that can be found on top of a large hill. Cardigan used to be a big ski resort, so you can find old ski lifts. Even now Cardigan is a ski resort, it just is not that big as many trails are overgrown.

The group of students and I was at cardigan for three days, and the days were September 30, October 1, and October 2. Although I was not in the same group as him, I also had a twin brother at Cardigan at the same time as me.
